Andrew Hardardt, USA Cycling Coach
Andrew J. Hardardt
USA Cycling Level II Coach
Andrew hails from the east coast from where he escaped the drudgery of nearly twenty years in the Tri-State area. After attending university at Northeastern in Boston, the call came to move to California, something he had been wanting to do since he was a small boy when he first visited his uncle in southern CA.
Finishing his Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Arts, Marketing and Advertising at San Francisco State University, he began cycling when he decided that commuting fifteen miles to his design job via car was a waste of time, money, resources and energy. Besides, the exercise got him back on track to reinvent his athleticism after his stints on the Varsity Ski Team, Golf Team, JV Soccer and Lacrosse Teams in high school then a short stint of extracurricular rugby and soccer at both Universities.
The cycling got into his blood when he worked at a medical design firm with Jerry Malone of the USPS and Discovery Channel Masters' Cycling Teams. Jerry took Andrew under his wing and mentored him in not only graphic design but also bike racing. Jerry introduced him to some of the best racers the US ever including Olympic athletes, National and International Champions. These incredible athletes showed Andrew the ropes, watched his abilities grow and then told him to return the favor by becoming a mentor and coach to other promising racers and cyclists. Almost a decade later, Andrew's is still returning the favor and passing on his knowledge to every new generation of cyclists with whom he connects.
From years of exposure to pharmacological research and working in medical advertising and marketing, Andrew has a huge amount of practical knowledge, experience and training that he is able to pass on to those who wish to improve themselves both on and off the bike. His ability to connect and assist his clients on health, fitness, foods/diet and assist with questions about common and some not-so-common pharmacologicals have helped some of his clients in ways he never expected including one whom he discovered needed triple by-pass surgery after an exhaustive Q+A session during the client interview. This client says Andrew saved his life [note: Well, with a bit of help and a trusting client, maybe... Andrew]
He helps ignite the spark of curiosity about cycling and what it can do for health and fitness. His training allows him to assist clients in creating a genuine passion for this great sport.
And for anyone who thinks he takes his life too seriously, check this out...
