GoFast Client Roster
Special Clients:
Eric Riggs, a former client via the USAC Regional Training Camps, has been slected for the US National Junior Development Team for 2008. Congratulations Eric!
Fred Stamm, former teammate and client of GoFast Coaching, has my vote for "Most Terrific Photo and SAVE of the Year". That's Fred looking like he's taking a serious header but he managed to unclip, roll through his kiss with the tarmac, got up and still finished a very respectable 15th at Collegiate Nationals. Way to go, Fred!
Current Clients:
Heidi Verbeeck-Hardardt - Heidi is a former star athlete. She was Regional Time Trial Champion, Regional Road Race Champion and a Junior National Team Member who raced at the World Championships in Italy and she's got the trophies and uniforms to prove it. Having been forced to retire due to injury, she is ready to give racing a shot again after nearly a decade off from racing. And she's my wife so WATCH out...
Sven Verbeeck - Sven is the younger brother of Heidi H and has been a talent in his own right. While not making it quite as far as his big sister, Sven has made strong impact in local and regional races and is aiming to reach his potential of what we believe to be National-level caliber. His very busy life demands rigorous structure and he's promised to stick with it to attain his goals.
Cliff Everaerts - Cliff is also making a comeback after years of non-racing. He raced at the Semi-Pro level in Belgium, won numerous prestigious events [and an Eddie Merckx bike] and was instrumental in assisting his teammates. He, too, is eager to perform and has already shown signs of his former ability under our tutelage.
Jay Ganaden - Jay, a professional photographer and full-time parent, hails from the big state of Texas where he raced on the University of Texas Cycling Team. He achieved a long list of wins then set off on his career and had to focus on that rather than racing. Now that he's settled and successful, he's back and raring to go. His Category 3 racing experience is gong to help us make him a star again.
NRL Racing - NorCal High School Mountain Bike League Team. NRL is a Junior U-18 and U-23 development cycling team, fueling enthusiastic bicycle racers from the SF Bay Area, specifically from the East Bay. We have racers ranging from beginner mountain bikers to dedicated road racers. The team focuses on Road, Track, XC and DH Mt, BMX and any other form of two wheel HPV racing and competition. All levels are welcome to join on the basis that they dedicate themselves to bringing the best out of their potential! Completely a non-profit team.
The team also competitively participates in the Nor Cal High School Mountain Bike League in the form of the "Fremont Composite Team." The season for this series race is during the spring of school starting from February to May. Please visit NorCal for more info!
2007 USA Cycling Jr. Regional Development Camp - USA Cycling. For the third time, GoFast has been asked to assist at the USA Cycling Regional Junior Development Camp. We were only able to assist for a few days this year due in part to prior commitments and we still were able to help these fine athletes discover their true potential. All the best 2007 participants!
Fred Martin - Category 4 Masters Road Racer. Fred is a serious nuts and bolts man. He's into numbers and figures and keep meticulous logs of his workouts. He presents a unique and terrific challenge for his GoFast coach by keeping solid track of his fitness and progress and by really wanting to know what it all means, ultimately and in detail. He is strong and fast coming from a twenty+ year triathlon background and has been terrific in his races. Go Fred!
Jim Good - Category 4 Masters Road Racer. Jim comes to us through his doctor who recommended he find a good coach to help him keep his weight under control. At 6'-4", Jim's physique has the ability to carry well over 200lbs and he's not willing to let that happen again now that he's reached sub-200. To this end, he's taken hold of his coaching program which I have designed to help him maintain weight while building strength and giving him more time with his family. He's so happy with it, he's begun to race and is becoming successful at it.
Ken Rader - Recreational cyclist. Ken is an interesting coaching case: two years ago, he went through a double bypass followed by cardio rehab and way too much time out of athletics. An avid hockey player, equestrian/bird-dog competitor, Ken's forced LOA from sports has left him feeling the effects of lack of exercise more than he wants. He came to GoFast through one of our physio-therapists and, after getting the "all-clear" from his physicians and Dr. Testa at UC Davis Sports Medicine, we have Ken on a slow build program that he's enjoying very much. The best thing is he's feeling better with each week of working through his training plan. Gotta love that kind of feedback.
Jeff Kent - Recreational cyclist. Jeff comes from a highly competitive background: his brother is a nationally-ranked triathlete and Jeff a former collegiate national-level wrestler. He is highly competitive at everything he does from work to training and has boundless energy. By working with Jeff via the internet and our phone calls, we're helping Jeff start his racing career in early 2006. We're happy to be assisting him in reaching for his star-potential.
Early Bird Mentoring Program, Fremont CA, Now in it's twentieth year, the EBs, as they're known around the Bay Area, have been drawing larger and larger crowds. While we'd all love to take all the credit for this, we recognize that the "Lance Phenomenon" has a lot to do with the growth of the sessions. To give us all credit, however, Shawn, Larry, Andrew, Alan and the rest of the mentors really create an amazing program that mimics riding and racing conditions rather than just riding as is done in most clinics. We've had turnouts of over 500 in one day with repeats close to those figures... even in lousy weather. Go EBs!
Previous Clients:
USA Cycling Regional Training Camp, Chico CA - Assistant Coach to Steve Madden and Clark Natwick. In 2002 and 2003, our director, Andrew Hardardt, was asked to help out at the Regional Training Camp for Juniors, Espies and Under-23 racers. Working under the direction of Nationally recognized Expert Coaches Clark and Steve really helped Andrew define his goals for the inception of GoFast Coaching services. It was a once, well, twice in a lifetime opportunity and he certainly didn't waste it.
Jamel Freeman - Category 3 Elite Road Racer. Jamel comes to us from the Big City, NYC. As a former bike messanger cum student chef, Jamel is as tough as they come and probably even more tough. He's got the legs of someone half again his size and he's got a motor to match. His free-spirited style of raccing and riding is a welcome breath of fresh air on training rides and he is a joy to watch in a race as he glides through the pack with aplomb. We're looking forward to helping Jamel have a very successful CycloCross season later this year. Go J!
Michael Rochlin - Category 3 Elite Road Racer. Michael comes back to us after taking most of last year [2005] off due to injury. Michael wants this season to be one of his best so we're working very closely with him to build him back up and to help him learn some new training techniques we've developed especially for racers of his caliber. Michael and I first met at the Regional Training Camp in 2002 where he was one of the riders chosen to race at Junior Nationals. Since then, Michael's been in the top ten for the Northern California Nevada Cycling Association's Men's Elite Road Racing division. Welcome back, Michael!
Scott Killips - Recreational cyclist. Scott keeps fast company. Most of his friends and riding partners are Cat 3 racers who compete on a local and national level. Scott, being fairly new to the sport [18 months], loves to ride with them but is wanting to improve his performance. He chose GoFast for one simple mission: to develop the strength and stamina to beat his friends at their own game. Tall order, but if Scott sticks to his training plan, we know he can do it!
Kristine Wollam - Sport Class Mountain Biker. Currently preparing for the NORBA National Championships held at Mammoth Mountain in Southern California, Kristine came to us with a goal: WIN! Simple, right? With our guidance and her abilities, we're confident that we can reach her goals this year and next. She's got great long-term ambition: to be the winner and National Champion of her age category next year. We're helping her to reach that dream.
Dan Kneisler - Recreational cyclist. Dan, a new-to-the-sport recreational rider, has high aspirations for someone only riding for 2 months: complete the San Francisco to Los Angeles AIDS Ride and do it with the main group. Dan's been working out using the GoFast weight training program to strengthen his legs and following his training plan to increase his stamina for the ride. Go Dan!
Ken Watson - Recreational cyclist. Ken returns to cycling after a nearly twenty year hiatus. Splitting time between the San Francisco/Bay Area and New Zealand, Ken needs to stay focused and faithful to his training plan to get the most out of it. By working via the internet and occasional phone calls, Ken's seen his riding and general health become better. His dedication to improving himself makes us proud to be working with him.
Paul Tomkins - Expert Class Mountain Biker. Currently ranked fourth in the New Zealand National Standings for Expert Class Mountain Bike Championships, Paul is double winner and current overall record holder for the Kona Colville Connection. Paul's a dedicated and enthusiastic participant in his GoFast Coaching Program and he works hard for his coach. His record proves he has t
